3D Hokuyo Laser Scanner


The rotary stage is designed to rotate the scanner through the optical center.

Did you build this? I'm curious to know motor you used, and what kind of positional accuracy you get.

Everything that has the label projects is something I have built or been directly involved in.

It's a little hard to see in this photo, but the laser is mounted on a servo, so it has all of the advantages and disadvantages of using a servo.

You can decrease the error if you are willing to spend the money for a very low backlash motor and PID controller or by using a geared stepper motor.
